Review: Full Steam Ahead by Valerie Chase

Warm weather, setting sail...blackmail???
This was a fun read! Just finished this morning after reading it all night. Okay,so let me just say that there wasn't much about this story that I didn't like. Once I started, I couldn't put it down. And Jace...Georgia wasn't the only one who fell for him. He was a really good guy, just misunderstood. All he needed was a chance.

I loved all the characters, really. I liked Yas. She was a really good friend to Georgia, although a tad bit whiny sometimes. She annoyed me during the hot tub scene, but after I found out about Sofia, I gave her a pass. I really liked Elise, too. (Perhaps, she could get her own book, too?)

The love scenes were steamy yet tasteful, and the attraction between Jace and Georgia was off the charts. The only thing that stopped from giving this book five stars was the fact that there were no declarations of love. I mean, I guess it wasn't really necessary because we know that they did indeed love each other. It was revealed not only through their inner monologues, but also through their actions. But what can I say? I'm a hopeless romantic. I just needed to hear them say it to each other.

This story was very well-written, the plot was very well-paced, and it was a really quick, enjoyable read. I only wish it was longer. (Perhaps, maybe a part II for Georgia & Jace???) I would love to read more about these two...maybe find out what happens with the blackmailer, and maybe more about her parents' money situation???

I really, really liked this story, and I would recommend it to anyone who appreciates a well-written story and dual POVs.

Well done, Ms. Val!

Review: Liberty Begins by Leigh James

***I'd been gifted a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review***

I liked this story. I like the elements of action and suspense embedded within it, and I also liked the fact that this was a younger woman/older guy story because there aren't many out there so this one sort of stands out.

I liked Liberty, and honestly I liked the fact that she was stripper...well, I mean I thought it was unfortunate, but I liked the fact that she didn't let it define her. I also liked the way the author described the grittiness of strip bars, and how Liberty often felt degraded because of what she did.

Okay, moving on...I thought the plot was paced well for the most part. There were certain parts that seemed a bit slow- moving, but I was intrigued enough to continue reading. The story shifted from past tense to present tense then back to past, which was a little weird.

John was likable enough. I can't necessarily say that he was swoon-worthy, but I can understand why Liberty was attracted to him. He was much older, but Liberty was mature for her age so the age difference didn't really bother me.

This ends in a cliffhanger. I don't normally like them, but with this story it seemed fitting. It wasn't like other stories where you feel cheated as if the two books should've been one. I've also been given the second book to review, which I will start soon so I'm lucky in that aspect. Overall, it was a good story--one that I feel comfortable recommending.

This blog is under construction!!!

I finally decided to start a book blog that includes my reviews of the books I read.  I recently published my first book, No Place Like Home.  Since I've published my first book, I have had a lot of people ask me about the types of books that I read, and books that I can recommend to them.  I have always been an avid reader, and I love sharing my thoughts on what I read, especially if they are really good. So...I started this blog.  This isn't some promotional blog, but just a blog where I share my thoughts on the books I read with all of you. More to come!
